Buying Guide
How to choose crushed stone
Crushed stone is graded by size. The numbered grades (#57, #67, #8, #10) come from the quarry screens used — match the grade to the job and you only pay for what the project actually needs.
Drainage
#57 is the standard for French drains and downspout runs — big enough to leave voids, small enough to handle easily.
Under concrete & pavers
#10 screenings or 3/8” stone make a compacted, level bedding layer.
Base & fill
1–1.5” and 2–3” stone carry weight and bridge over soft, muddy ground.
Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between crushed stone and gravel?+
Crushed stone is mechanically crushed rock with sharp, angular edges that lock together. Gravel is often naturally rounded. Angular stone compacts better; round stone drains and looks softer.
What is #57 stone used for?+
#57 (about 3/4”) is the most versatile grade — French drains, driveway surfaces, concrete aggregate and pipe bedding.
How many square feet does a ton cover?+
At 2” deep, one ton of 3/4” stone covers roughly 90–100 sq ft. Deeper layers cover proportionally less.
Is delivery really free?+
Yes — every price you see includes dump-truck delivery to your address. Enter your zip code on the product page to confirm your area and see the next available delivery date.
Where does the truck unload?+
Wherever you point — the driver dumps the load exactly where you want it, as long as the truck can safely reach the spot. We confirm access before dispatch.
