Gravel & Rock ordered online by the ton. A dump truck delivers to your Neosho address and unloads right where you point.

The cost of a load comes down to two things: the material itself and where the truck has to go. Zip code pricing at checkout handles the second part, so you see the full delivered number before you commit. Neosho gets about 49 inches of precipitation a year, which means drainage and washout planning should be part of your material choice from the start.
Whether you are working on a driveway, a path, or a bed, the right gravel or rock holds up better and lasts longer. This page covers what is available, what each product does, and how to order by the ton for delivery to your address.
Below are the materials you can order. Each one is best for a specific job, and none of them works everywhere.
| Product | Best for | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 3/8" Natural Pea Gravel | Play areas, patios | Rounded and smooth, does not compact well for vehicle loads. |
| River Rock | Beds, borders, dry creek beds | Smooth, decorative, and stays put in low-traffic areas. |
| 2-4" River Rock | Larger decorative cover and erosion control | Heavier pieces resist washing out on slopes. |
| Drain Rock | French drains and dry wells | Clean, angular, and lets water pass quickly. |
| Decomposed Granite | Paths and patios that compact firm | Loose when spread, hard after compaction with a plate tamper. |
| Crusher Run | Compacting base under everything | Contains fines that lock together, making a solid foundation. |
| Road Base | Lanes and pads that carry trucks | Engineered for heavy loads and repeated traffic. |
The table matches a project type to the material and suggested depth. Depth depends on ground conditions, but these starting points work for most Neosho lots.
| Project | What to order | Depth or note |
|---|---|---|
| Landscape beds | 2-4" River Rock or River Rock | 2 to 3 inches for weed suppression and looks |
| French drain | Drain Rock | 12 inches around the pipe, wrap in filter fabric |
| Dry creek bed | River Rock and 2-4" River Rock mix | 3 to 5 inches, larger rock on top for looks |
| Path that stays firm | Decomposed Granite over Crusher Run | 4 inches of base, 2 inches of decomposed granite compacted |
| Erosion control on a slope | 2-4" River Rock | 4 to 6 inches, key into the slope to stop sliding |
Neosho sits in Newton County, where about 100 days a year drop below freezing. That freeze-thaw cycle works on loose material all winter, which is the argument for the deeper first lift. A base layer of crusher run or road base at least 4 inches thick helps keep the final surface from shifting when the ground thaws.
Soils mapped in the Neosho area are commonly moderately well drained. That means the ground holds some moisture but does not stay saturated. The soil water behavior puts the area in dual hydrologic group C/D. Where the site is drained, water soaks in slowly and a fair amount runs across the surface. Where it is not drained, most rain runs across the surface because water barely soaks in at all. Drainage and a deeper base matter more here than elsewhere. The 8 inches of snow each year is generally light, but plowing can scrape a loose surface if the stone is not compacted.
Newton County permitted about 63 single-family homes in 2024. That is a county figure, so new construction in the area is steady. Driveways for those new homes will need a base that can handle freeze-thaw without rutting.
Tonnage depends on the area and the depth. A 10-foot by 20-foot path at 3 inches deep takes roughly 2 to 3 tons, but the exact number changes with material density. Use our material calculators to dial in the load size before you order. Enter your dimensions and the calculator gives a tonnage range for the product you picked.
You order online by the ton, delivery is priced by ZIP at checkout, and a dump truck brings the load to your address. Loads run from one ton to over 40 tons. Free delivery is available on qualifying orders. Use code FIRSTTIMER50 at checkout for $50 off your first order.
The delivery date must be at least 3 business days after the order date. You pick a window: morning, 7 am to 12 pm, or afternoon, 12 pm to 5 pm. A valid phone number is required. You get an email confirmation when the order is placed, then a second email closer to the date with the scheduled window and a photo of the material being loaded. Delivery only goes ahead once you approve that second email.
You or someone you nominate must be at the site during the window. The site needs a road width of at least 12 feet. Read our delivery information page for the full policy. See what other customers have to say on our customer reviews page. For more about the company, visit About Gravel Monkey.
Gravel and rock often need a base layer or a companion material. These are sold on separate pages.
Yes. About 100 days a year drop below 32F, and that freeze-thaw cycle works on loose material all winter. A deeper base layer of crusher run or road base, at least 4 to 6 inches, helps keep the surface from shifting when the ground thaws. This matters more for driveways and paths that carry weight.
Neosho sees about 49 inches of precipitation a year. That is enough that water management matters. Drain rock is the right choice for French drains and dry wells. For surfaces, a base layer that allows water to pass through, like crusher run, reduces puddling and frost heave.
Gravel and rock are sold by the ton. A ton covers roughly 100 square feet at 2 inches deep, but the exact coverage depends on the material's density. Use our material calculators to find the tonnage for your project dimensions.
The truck needs a road width of at least 12 feet and a surface that can handle a heavy loaded dump truck. Pavement, compacted gravel, or firm dirt works. If access is tight, the crew unloads as close to the requested spot as they safely can.
