Crushed Concrete ordered online by the ton. A dump truck delivers to your Michigan address and unloads right where you point.

After the ground thaws in Michigan, base work picks up fast. Crushed concrete is a recycled, compactable material that performs like virgin stone at a lower cost per ton. Gravel Monkey delivers crushed concrete by the ton to any address across Michigan, so you can get a delivered price without visiting a yard.
The material is crushed from demolished concrete and screened to size. It packs well and handles drainage better than rounded gravel. Several sizes are available to match the compaction and drainage demands of different jobs.
The 3/4" crushed concrete is the standard compacting base for driveways and pads. Other sizes cover finer grading, heavy fill, and mud control.
| Product | Use | Note |
| Crushed Concrete | General recycled base material | Covers most base and fill needs for site work. |
| 3/8" Crushed Concrete | Fine top dressing and leveling | Good for paths and as a bedding layer. |
| 3/4" Crushed Concrete | The standard compacting base size | Best all-around base for driveways and slabs. |
| 1"-1 1/2" Crushed Concrete | Heavy base under drives and pads | Handles heavier loads and wet subgrades. |
| 2"-3" Crushed Concrete | Deep fill and mud control | Used for stabilization in soft spots. |
The right size and depth depend on the project. These common Michigan applications show what typically works.
| Project | What to order | Depth or note |
| Temporary site access | 2"-3" Crushed Concrete | 12 inches or more for mud control. |
| Driveway base on a budget | 3/4" Crushed Concrete | 6 to 8 inches compacted. |
| Backfill behind a wall | 1"-1 1/2" Crushed Concrete | Drains well; depth per wall height. |
| Parking pad | 3/4" Crushed Concrete | 6 inches minimum on compacted subgrade. |
| Grade raising under a slab | Crushed Concrete (general) | Depth depends on fill target; compact in lifts. |
Across the cities we serve, annual precipitation runs from about 33 to 38 inches. That drives the need for a base that drains well and resists washout under compacted surfaces. Hard freezes shape the calendar here, so base work is easier to get right from late spring through fall. The number of days below freezing ranges from about 130 to 179, pushing frost heave into the design conversation.
Most of the state sits in the severe band for ground freezing, which means base depth should account for frost penetration. The dominant hydrologic soil groups are A and C/D, influencing how much base material is needed to stabilize the subgrade. In areas with poorly draining soils, a thicker crushed concrete section helps manage moisture.
MDOT runs a spring load-restriction program that limits heavy truck loads during thaw. This can affect delivery timing in early spring. Orders placed during that period may see adjusted scheduling to comply with road limits.

Tonnage depends on the area you are covering and the compacted depth you need. Use our material calculators to estimate the required volume and convert it to tons. The calculator works for any size and lets you adjust depth to match your project.

Severe ground freezing across most of the state means base depth should be designed for frost penetration. Hydrologic soil groups A and C/D are common, so consider a thicker crushed concrete section if drainage is poor. Annual precipitation of 33 to 38 inches also reinforces the need for a well-draining base.
Yes. MDOT runs a spring load-restriction program during thaw, which can limit heavy truck loads. This may affect scheduling for early-season deliveries. Gravel Monkey works with suppliers to adjust timing within the restrictions.
We offer five sizes: crushed concrete (general recycled base), 3/8" (fine top dressing), 3/4" (standard compacting base), 1"-1 1/2" (heavy base), and 2"-3" (deep fill and mud control). Each is listed on the product pages with details.
